The MoonFish 68 Combo Demo Brett Mikels..This is a tone demo of the Carp Amps 68 - a seriously chimey and bedrock-solid feeling and sounding hand-built amp from Eric Carpenter and his crew in Riverside, California. This dual EL34 powerhouse combo is fitted with a Celestion Gold and a Celestion Classic Lead 80. (I'm told the next one built will have the new Celestion Creambacks... very interested in hearing those! Rick? :) The controls are very responsive and interactive allowing the tone to be shaped in nearly any desired way, at any volume. It is a single channel amp with Gain, Volume, Bass, Mid, and Treble knobs. This was recorded late October 2012 on a Kodak Play video camera, as well as on ProTools with a pair of Sure Beta 57's placed at the speaker. Only levels were mixed, no effects used anywhere in the chain. (note: in my project studio, the amp was seriously loud and big sounding - the mic on the camera picked up a great deal of the sound reflection in the room, it's not reverb or delay... it can played at any volume, and I recorded at several, but when it's even mildly cranked, it rattles the walls in my entire house... feels SOOOO good!!! :) This is an amp built for the player who knows how to wield a massive sword, so to speak. It's not for the faint at heart, and is the kind of amp that begs, demands to played... everywhere and often. It's ultra immediate, present, and punchy and can't be ignored or forgotten... and it makes no apologies for collateral damage (like, to the walls of your house, the neighbors, the sound man, or even your quickly fading love of your old fav's.) Again, for timeless raw tones of nearly any kind, pedals are not necessary, but it takes them spectacularly well. Hand-built amp by Eric Carpenter and his crew in Riverside, California, this Quad 6V6 head is paired with a 2X12 cabinet loaded with a Celestion Gold and a Celestion Classic Lead 80. As with all Carp amps, the controls are very responsive and interactive allowing the tone to be shaped in nearly any desired way, at any volume. It is a single channel amp with Gain, Volume, Bass, Mid, and Treble knobs. This was recorded late December 2012 on a Kodak Play video camera, as well as on ProTools with a pair of Sure Beta 57's placed at the speaker. Only levels were mixed, no effects used anywhere in the chain. The mic on the video camera picked up a great deal of the sound reflection in the room, so you'll hear some natural reverb or delay. At 42 watts with a master volume, you can dial in a killer tone at any level, plenty of horsepower for big stages, clubs, and it's great in the studio as well. And like any Carp amp, the tone is sublime and can't be ignored or forgotten. Timeless Classic American tones from clear and articulate cleans to warm and sparkly overdriven sounds when pushed. It takes pedals spectacularly well. Additional videos on other models to come. Visit www.carpamps.com for more information. Additional videos on other models to come |
